Our Recordings
Some performances deserve a second life. Our recordings capture pieces of VOX beyond the concert itself—music we love, projects we want to remember and South African works we believe should travel further.

Live Recordings
VOX LIVE is a playlist of recordings of live performances in which VOX Cape Town has performed but that are not published on VOX’s own YouTube channel.

VOX LIVE
This playlist includes the live performance with local rock band ISO at the Two Oceans Aquarium in July 2023, the San Gloria by Péter Louis van Dijk that was performed in the Endler Hall in March 2023 to celebrate the composer’s 70th birthday, the performance of the Requiem for Solace by Kim André Arnesen that opened the first National Conductors’ Convention held in the Cape Town International Convention Centre in March 2023, and the performance of Thomas Tallis’s monumental motet Spem in alium that formed part of the 2022 Cape Town Baroque Festival.

LIVE at the Norval Foundation
In April 2019, VOX Cape Town presented a constellation of exquisite choral music at the breathtaking Norval Foundation in Steenberg. These choral masterpieces, complementing the contemporary art on display, were written by five great living composers of our time. From the “pillow-soft dissonances” of Eric Whitacre and the repetitive structures of Philip Glass to the mesmerising soundscapes of Ola Gjeilo and Kim André Arnesen, the musical odyssey concluded in South Africa with Peter Klatzow’s Two Songs from the /Xam. To share this music more widely, a special preview performance was held, free of charge, the week before.

LIVE at the Baxter Concert Hall
VOX Cape Town enjoys a special relationship with the Baxter Theatre Centre. Over the years, VOX has contributed to many performances at the annual UCT Summer School (first with Barry Smith and later with Grant McLachlan) and the Cape Town Concert Series. This playlist features a selection of live recordings from these events. More recordings are coming soon!
P.S. Please consider supporting the Baxter for as little as R30 a month by becoming a #BaxterCoffeeAngel. Every small donation contributes towards the long-term future of the institution.
