Submerge yourself in a soundbath of the sublime with VOX Cape Town’s new album, Eternity in an Hour. Inspired by VOX’s sold-out concert of the same name earlier this year, these sixteen tracks trace a diverse musical journey from lamentation to light.
Anchored in the holy minimalism of the new millennium, Eternity in an Hour encompasses the Venetian polyphony of Antonio Lotti, the visionary poetry of William Blake as interpreted by John Tavener, and a quartet of contemporary composers from the British Isles (Benjamin Britten, Herbert Howells, Michael Tippett and John Rutter). Bathe in the hypnotic organ musings of Philip Glass, Olivier Messiaen and Hans Zimmer—and the richness of our own choral heritage—as we cast our ears momentarily to the mystical melodies of Middle-Earth.
