VOX 2023: A MUSICAL YEARBOOK
VOX Cape Town is arguably the Mother City’s most active and versatile choral collective. This year alone, we have performed at venues as diverse as the Maynardville Open-Air Theatre, the Baxter Concert Hall, the Two Oceans Aquarium and the Endler Hall in Stellenbosch, presenting a rich smorgasbord of choral music in immersive and imaginative ways.
In this presentation at Christ Church, Constantia, entitled ‘VOX 2023: A Musical Yearbook’, we will present highlights from our musical adventures this year. Our two recent signature performances will take centre stage. The first of these, a musical journey spanning the centuries presented in the candlelit grandeur of the Bishops Memorial Chapel entitled Eternal Echoes, comprised sacred music by Rachmaninoff, Sir John Tavener, William Byrd and others. This will be contrasted with Timeless Whispers, our recent musical tribute to the South African Karoo, evoking the timeless allure, rugged landscapes and sparkling night skies of that majestic region.
The performance will conclude with a nod to the future, as we present some of the music that we will be singing in our annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in De Waterkant on 10 December.

“Such a very beautiful concert! Filled my soul with glorious sounds. Thank you, VOX!”
“They are a cappella and their sound is absolutely amazing; one minute totally etherial, the other shaking the glass in the church windows. They are WONDERFUL! Everything from William Byrd to the composer sitting in the audience – doesn’t come better than that.”
“I was there on Sunday to watch and listen to the incredible VOX choir! WOW!”
