TIMELESS WHISPERS – THE TIME TRACKERS
Return to Timeless Whispers
“Tana is a child of the Tankwa Karoo. She loves its dry, dusty landscape and high blue skies … and stones. Tana never gave the stones any thought until the Time Trackers arrived to tell the stories of the stones. Stories of the deep, deep past. Stories of the early people who lived here long, long ago.”
Set in South Africa, The Time Trackers is written by award-winning children’s author Lesley Beake, with expert input by archaeologist Emily Hallinan, and brought alive with illustrations by Michael Pattison. The book is independently published and is available in print or e-book formats from Amazon or bought directly from the authors. This first book for children about archaeology in the Tankwa Karoo was published in August 2023.
The proceeds from book sales will support the work of South African non-profit organisation Children’s Book Network (CBN). CBN is committed to inspiring reading in pre-teens from under-resourced areas by providing them the opportunity to engage with creative and imaginative stories. They do this through the aid of their CBN toolboxes – curated collections of excellent books and stories that are used in their immersive workshops with the children, and adapted for use in their homes.
Copies of The Time Trackers will be for sale at the two performances of Timeless Whispers. Shortly after the morning performance, Lesley will be in conversation with John Woodland to discuss how the book came to be and the important work that CBN does to inspire our young communities to read.
