A STELLAR CONCERT
FUNDRAISER FOR THE INKWENKWEZI FOUNDATION
Regrettably, this important fundraising performance was cancelled due to unavoidable circumstances.
“A Stellar Concert” is a grand musical evening of music and dance in which ballet meets pantsula, jazz meets classical and opera meets choral. Hosted by Hadley Tituss, the evening will feature, amongst others, soprano Louise Howlett, pianist Albert Combrink, VOX Cape Town, Cape Town City Ballet and a performance by the Abedare School Choir – one of the schools benefiting from the concert proceeds.
The event is produced by Fine Music Radio presenter, Mzukisi Maketa, who holds the charity very close to his heart. “For the first seven years of my life I went to school in the Eastern Cape. If my feet grew too big there was no money for new school shoes, so I often went barefoot in summer and winter.” This was the motivation behind joining forces with partner Nokwanda Nkombi to launch the Inkwenkwezi Foundation and creating the campaign #EverySchoolChildDeservesSchoolShoes.
The objective of the organisation is to provide school shoes and uniforms to school-going children from disadvantaged communities in rural areas. In 2016 the project partnered with Fine Music Radio and so far they have managed to provide more than 600 pairs of shoes for children from a variety of local schools.
