A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols with VOX Cape Town

Broadcast on Fine Music Radio at 20h00 on Christmas Eve (Monday 24 December 2018)

For the third year running, a recording of VOX Cape Town’s locally-flavoured adaptation of the famous Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols will broadcast on Fine Music Radio, bringing this musical celebration to a much wider audience. The recording will broadcast at 20h00 on 101.3 FM or worldwide via www.fmr.co.za. This year’s broadcast coincides with the centenary celebrations of the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols that was first sung at King’s College, Cambridge, in 1918.

Light Art Festival at Spier Wine Farm

Recordings by VOX Cape Town are being played as part of the Light Art Festival at Spier Wine Farm between 10 December 2018 and 31 January 2019. Each night during this period, visitors will be able to experience a dazzling array of interactive light and sound artworks throughout the historic Stellenbosch farm. Entry to the installation, which runs from 20h30 to 23h00 during this period, is free of charge.

UCT Summer School: “A Beethoven Bouquet”

For the third year running, VOX Cape Town will contribute to Dr Barry Smith’s popular lecture-demonstration series at the annual UCT Summer School. Three concerts on successive nights will pay tribute to the genius and versatility of Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827). Piano and violin sonatas, a string quartet, a song cycle for tenor and other chamber works will be performed. VOX will be singing on the second evening, Tuesday 22 January 2019, in the Baxter Concert Hall. Bookings via Webtickets are now open.
